What is PRF?

This is a natural platelet concentrate and is achieved with no biochemical manipulation of blood

What is the difference between PRP and PRF?

PRP production uses an anticoagulant to prevent the blood sample from clotting during processing. In PRF fibrin (a component of clots) is allowed to form. The final PRF product forms a matrix that enables platelets to be released more slowly once injected. In other words PRP releases platelets and growth factors more quickly whilst PRF releases platelets and growth factors more slowly after injection.

Which treatment will I be offered?

We now mainly carry out PRF treatments as there is a greater simplicity of production, absence of blood manipulation, more healing factors are contained, more stem cells and less trauma

Why PRF?

It accelerates wound healing and tissue regeneration, increases stimulation of osteogenesis and new blood vessel formation. It has 10 times more platelet concentration than normal blood so has greater healing and regeneration properties.

When will I see results from PRF?

The first changes will be seen within a couple of weeks with maximum effect being reached at about 8 weeks
